Taoba reports that National Bank of Georgia (NBG) president Roman Gotsiridze
is bound for Germany, where he will meet with the president of the Deutsche
Bundesbank and other German officials. "Georgian and German central banks have a good tradition of the cooperation. Approximately 24 NBG staff members passed though qualification-training courses in this leading European bank, for free, in the last two years. By the end of this year, six more NBG employees will leave for the Bundesbank for the same program," said Gotsiridze, adding that future cooperation with Bundesbank would be multilateral. Analysts from the Bundesbank are expected to come to Georgia, where they will consult with the NBG on managing international reserves. Headline: 12 singers chosen for Eurovision Junior 2007 competition The first round of competition for selecting a Georgian contestant for Eurovision Junior 2007 has finished, reports the newspaper Rezonansi. A jury chose 12 out of 140 young hopefuls. Vocal teachers will work with the children throughout August, while songs and movie clips are recorded. On October 5 in
Tbilisi, the final round will be held in the Philharmonic Hall. Out
of the 12 children, a jury will pick one winner to fly to Rotterdam
and represent the country in Eurovision Junior 2007. Through the auditioning rounds, 20 children were also chosen for a GPB program called Success Formula Junior; the winner of that competition will automatically be entered into the Georgian competition for a Eurovision Junior 2008 contestant. The jury included musicians Maka Aroshidze and Nutsa Janelidze, composer Jemal Sepiashvili, singers Tamriko Chokhonelidze and David Archvadze, promoter Vaniko Tarkhnishvili and GPB head Tamar Kintsurashvili. The jury spent more than a week auditioning contestants in eight Georgian provinces. The competition is under the patronage of First Lady Sandra Roelofs. Headline: New national health care standards from September New standards for treating certain diseases, reports the newspaper Sakartvelos Respublika, are scheduled to come into force in September. According to an
adviser to the Health Minister, Zaza Bokhua, the protocols will be enforced
by the Justice Ministry. The guidelines are general recommendations, while the protocols are minimum and obligatory standards, which will renewed every two years. The health care standards are based on those which are in force throughout Europe and the US. Headline: 03 emergency service to be changed to 033 The 03 emergency service phone number is going to be changed to 033, said head of Tbilisi health and social affairs committee Mamuka Katsarava to Akhali Taoba. The decision, he said, was made to simplify emergency calls, as it's problematic to dial 03 from a mobile phone. "The same change was made to the police line, and instead of 02 it's now 022," said Katsarava. Head of the 03
emergency service Iva Kachiuri announced that there are job opening
in the emergency department; applicants need to have at least a secondary
medical education. 30 new ambulances have also been added to the service,
he said, and new uniforms are being made for medical staff.
