2007, #158 (1425) Vladimir Sanakoyev's "Kokoity Fandarast" campaign now has a theme song-and a music video. Have you seen the video for the "Kokoity Fandarast" song? Do you think the music and lyrics are effective campaign tools? Can this anti-Kokoity movement win real support from Ossetians? "Yes, the
song is great. I think Kokoity should be scared with such a large-scale
movement against him. It makes me proud to see so many young Georgians
and Ossetians joining the movement." "I haven't
seen the full version, but what I did see was wonderful. I think it'll
hit Kokoity's administration-this is the right way for young people
to get involved in a movement like this." "I haven't
heard the song. Sure, all these movements are good things, but it's
not a realistic way to solve these problems. It may help, but not much.
I wish all conflicts could be solved with singing." "I haven't
seen the video yet, because I'm out of the city and Alania TV doesn't
broadcast to my village. But I think videos like this have some power,
maybe only a little, but still some power. They get popular and define
people's attitude towards the target. It might win support from Ossetians-not
all of them are happy with Kokoity's regime." "Yes, I've
seen this video and I liked it a lot. It's great that our youth are
involved, and I hope it has some influence on conflict resolution." "It won't
make a difference. The conflicts need to be resolved by sound policy,
not videos and songs. Our government needs to take more significant
steps on higher levels, and not waste time and money on silly things
like this." "Even if all
the Ossetians rose up and cried 'Fandarast, Fandarast,' this won't have
any effect on resolving the conflict. The key lies with Russia. They're
holding this region in their claws, while the OSCE and other international
organizations are just wandering off to the side." "It's already
had some influence, I think. Kokoity seems a bit scared of all this.
Of course, hollow words can't oust him, but you know there's a saying:
if you tell a tree 'dry, dry', it will stop growing. It really works
in terms of psychological effects. However, they probably have some
stronger measures kept in store to really see off Kokoity." "I presume
the action will reach its potential audience among ordinary Ossetians.
It's just powerful enough to unite people against one common enemy." |
