According to research conducted by the oppositional Green Party, 1.2 million Georgian citizens over the age of 17 are ready to leave Georgia, the newspaper Alias reports. The same research suggests that 70 percent of the population is pessimistic about Georgia’s economic and social prospects. “It appears that in the near future Georgia will lose 51 percent of its young citizens, leaving only pensioners and children in the country,” a Green Party representative commented, adding that Georgia is likely to face huge demographic problems if this is the case.
