Out of 157 states of the world Georgia has been ranked 32nd in a world economic freedom index conducted by The Wall Street Journal and the Heritage Foundation. Georgia scored 69.2 on the index, 0.1 down on last year’s figure, and deemed “moderately free” economically.

Economist Gia Khukhashvili says there is a danger of reading too much into the index. “The ratings cannot feed the people; they cannot regain lost territories and improve wellbeing,” the news agency Regnum quoted him as saying.
