In 2008 the daily output of the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan oil pipeline will reach 1.2 million barrels, according to a representative of the consortium behind the pipeline.

He said that works are underway to increase pipeline capacity. “Currently Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan capacity is one million barrels per day although only 875 000 barrels of Azerbaijani oil is actually transited,” the official said, according to the news agency Regnum.

The pipeline is scheduled to be able to transit 1.6 million barrels per day by 2013.
