Ombudsman demands Shalva Ramishvili’s release

The Georgian Ombudsman has demanded that Justice Minister Nika Gvaramia release Shalva Ramishvili, Sakartvelos Respublika reports.

According to the Ombudsman Ramishvili has already been in jail for a long time and has no stain on his prison record. For this reason, the Ombudsman thinks that Ramishvili should be pardoned.

In his appeal to the Minister the Ombudsman highlighted Ramishvili’s contribution to Georgian journalism. He stated that everyone is equal under the law regardless of his or her position or contribution but added that Ramishvili’s freedom would be more beneficial to the country than his incarceration.



American military experts to visit Georgia

24 saati writes that according to official information from the Pentagon American military experts will visit Tbilisi in the near future to make detailed observation of the damage to the country’s military infrastructure.

A few days ago US Vice President Dick Cheney accused Russia of illegal arms trading. He stated that Russia had sold weapons to Iran and Syria which had subsequently appeared in the hands of terrorist groups.
