More than USD 1 billion transferred

More than USD 1 billion was transferred to Georgia in 2008, says the National Bank of Georgia. This is 15% more than was transferred in 2007.

The biggest amounts were transferred in July – USD 97 million and December – USD 109 million. The smallest sum was in January 2007 – USD 58 million.

The most significant source of this money is Russia – USD 634 million. Next come Ukraine – USD 71 million and USA – USD 63 million. Then come Greece with 47 million, Italy 37 million, Armenia 22 million, Turkey 21 million, Spain 20 million, Kazakhstan 10 million etc.

USD 84 million was transferred from Georgia to various countries in 2008, primarily to Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the USA.
