Rakia Georgia Poti Free Industrial Zone project presented

The presentation ceremony for this project was held at the Sheraton Metechi Palace Hotel last Friday. Director of the Poti F.I.Z. Zaza Mikadze, Dr Khater Massaad, CEO of RAKIA and Dr. Chatterji, the General Director of Poti F.I.Z, informed the assembled officials, businessmen and journalists about the project alongside Government Ministers.

The President of Georgia highly evaluated the Rakia Project in his speech at the presentation. He stated that on the one hand it will facilitate the economic revival of the country on the other it enhances the country’s investment attractiveness. He said that the project is an investment for businessmen who want to invest in Georgia.

The President also stressed that Georgia is resisting the world economic crisis while many neighbouring countries are suffering dramatic setbacks. He also mentioned progress which would be made in the country by the end of his Presidential term in 2013.

The Free Industrial Zone is spread over 300 hectares of land adjacent to Poti Sea Port, the largest port in the Black Sea region. It will have easy access to various countries within the Caucasus region and beyond through road, rail and air links.

Poti Free Industrial Zone is expecting to attract investors from different industrial fields, such as: small & medium sized enterprises, high technology industries and bio-tech companies. Leases start from USD 5 per square metre per year for manufacturing companies. The rental is fixed for 10 years, and the cost of a professional license starts from only USD 2,000 per year, lower than anywhere in the EU.
