Armenia’s Parliament has adopted and finalised a law on building a nuclear power station in Armenia. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsesian has stated that the law makes it possible to build a new 1,200 megawatt nuclear power station which will last 60 years, costing approximately up to USD 4-5 billion.

The Minister highlighted the importance of the project from the point of view of the deficit of electricity in neighbouring countries. He said that Armenia is the only country in the region which can both satisfy its domestic demand and export its electricity.
