Deputy Prime Minister of Italy Paulo Romani has stated, while meeting Armenian Transport and Communications Minister Gurgen Sarkisian, that Italian road construction companies are ready to participate in the international tender on the construction of new motorways connecting Armenia and the Georgian Black Sea ports.

In Autumn 2008 during the Armenian President's visit to Georgia an agreement was made on constructing a transport corridor connecting Yerevan with Batumi. Armenia and the Asian Development Bank signed a loan agreement concerning this. In 2010 around USD 120 million will be spent on this project. Brazilian investors are also prepared to participate in.
