Azerbaijan to increase natural gas supply to Iran

On January 12, Azerbaijan and Iran signed a long term contract over the issue of providing Iran with Azeri natural gas. For this purpose rehabilitation works are being conducted in the compressing station in Astara on the Iran-Azeri border to increase its capacity. Plans are also afoot to carry out reconstruction works on the gas pipeline connecting Iran and Azerbaijan. Today this pipeline allows 1.2 mln cubic meters of gas transportation after the reconstruction of oil increased by 3 mln cubic meters a day.
