Since beginning operations (Baku Tbilisi Ceyhan pipeline) in June 2006 up until February 2011, the Mediterranean Turkish port of Ceyhan has served 1487 tankers filled with more than 151 million tonnes of (mostly Azeri) oil crude oil. In 2010 38 million tonnes of oil was transported. And from July 2010 Turkmen oil has also been transported. It is also likely that soon Kazakhstani oil from the Tengiz oil field will be transported. BTC has been increasing its capacity since 2009 and is currently transporting 1.2 million barrels of oil a day.
