Armenian-Iran economic relations

On March 27, Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan, and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad discussed further economic cooperation between the two countries during a meeting. The most important aspects were the construction of the Iran-Armenia Railway and prospects of cooperation in the energy sphere. In the near future, the two countries might start construction of a hydro-electric power station on the river of Araks. The energy sector is the biggest sphere of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries and there is a desire from both parties to focus even more heavily in this direction.
