Catholicos-Patriarch will meet Russian Patriarch

Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia ll has asked people to pray the meeting with the Russian Patriarch to end with positive results, the Patriarch said after the Sunday sermon at the Trinity Cathedral.

According to him, a delegation from the Georgian Church will leave for Kiev, where meetings will be held with the Ukrainian President, the Chairman of the Parliament and the Russian Patriarch.

‘Please, pray for positive results’, Ilia ll said.

Vashadze meets Director General for Home Affairs of European Commission

Georgia`s Deputy Justice Minister Giorgi Vashadze met Director General for Home Affairs of European Commission Stefano Manservisi on Saturday.

Giorgi Vashadze introduced the success achieved by Georgia in migration management and document security issues to the European guest.

The deputy minister also discussed with Stefano Manservisi the reforms carried out in the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

Russian tourists attacked in occupied Abkhazia

Russian tourists were attacked on Friday in Abkhazia ( Georgia`s Russian occupied region). Russian media report that masked gunmen attacked a bus of tourists in Ochamchire district.

The gunmen reportedly stole 63 000 Russian rubles, gold jewellery items, 5 digital photo cameras and 10 cell phones from the tourists.

Later, the offenders also forced the tourists to get off the bus which the attackers then seized.

Saakashvili inspects rehabilitation works in Borjomi resort

Rehabilitation process of Borjomi, the resort town in south-central Georgia, is underway. President Mikheil Saakashvili arrived in the town to see the ongoing works on Saturday.

Saakashvili visited the refurbished square in front of the Borjomi Park and inspected newly-constructed buildings there.

The president also visited a unique building constructed for an Iranian diplomat 120 years ago. The building is being reconstructed now. Iranian specialists are expected to arrive in Borjomi to restore the mosaics and decoration detail on the building.

A 5-star hotel is also being constructed close to the park. Saakashvili said during his visit, that like the territory of Borjomi park, the whole town will be restored.

Turkish Company To Open Laurel Factory In Ajara Region

Turkish company Kutas will open a Laurel factory in Adjara region. Yeast company ”Pakmaye” also enters the Georgian market and plans to open its representation in Adjara. According to the Agriculture Ministry of Adjara, upon the invitation of the Israeli company ”Netafim”, Agriculture Minister visited Turkey. According to the ministry, the aim of the visit was to discuss cooperation possibilities with Turkish companies.

Members of the delegations visited several factories of the company ”Kutas” and got acquainted with contemporary equipment during the visit. During the meeting with heads of the company, the sides discussed plans for future cooperation.

At the end of the visit, a meeting with heads of Adana trade exchange was held, where the sides discussed spheres of interest of Adana regarding the Adjara agriculture sector.

Strong wind and heavy rain inflict damage on Rustavi

Strong wind and rain inflicted damage on the city of Rustavi located, some 30 kilometers from Tbilisi. A block of apartments was completely unroofed in Todria Street and therefore several apartments were flooded by heavy rain.

Rescue and fire brigades of Kvemo Kartli Region were working on-site all night long to pump out the water from the flooded apartments.

No casualties have been reported after the deluge.
