Reconstruction of Boris Paichadze national stadium to be started on August 29

Tbilisi City Hall has signed an agreement with Dinamo Tbilisi football club for 49 years.

According to City Hall representatives the memorandum foresees the reconstruction of the stadium, the renovtion of the roof of the stadium, as well as annual investment and preservation of the stadium during the contract term. Besides the stadium should be updated according to UEFA and FIFA international standards of the ground for international football matches. The agreement was signed at City Hall yesterday. The memorandum was signed between the Deputy Mayor Giorgi Tskhakaia and the Director of FC Dinamo, Zurab Pololikashvili. The reconstruction works will begin on August 29. (Interpressnews)



Repaired 120 kg Golden Cross to be Installed on Svetitskhoveli Dome

Specialists are installing the repaired 120 kg golden cross damaged by thunder on Svetitskhoveli temple dome. Rehabilitation works financed by the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia are under way. The temple is being rehabilitated, including the installing of new water supply systems and water pipes. The National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia financed conservation works of the south wall painting of Svetitskhoveli, as the unique iconographic model of the 168th psalm. Mestia to host festival SVANSETI 2011

The Georgian Economic and Sustainable Development Ministry and the National Agency Alter Vision Group will hold a press conference introducing the events dedicated to the festival SVANSETI 2011. In the frames of the festival three musical projects will be presented. The Alter vision Group and the Georgian records will present Irakli Charkviani's new project White God and present the experimental project concert with visual effects called The King. The White God was created after Charkviani’s death and it encompasses unknown poetry, compositions and old tracks. After a 5 years wait the public will enjoy for the first time the new project Exclamation, Green Room & RIHO. This year Alter Vision Group plans a one day festival in the open air. (The Messenger)



Practical textbooks for public school Directors

The National Center for Teacher Professional Development (TPDC) presented a special guidebook for school principals aimed at improving the internal situation at Georgian public schools in many ways. As Gia Mamulashvili the Head of the TPDC stated “the textbook would give good assistance to Directors with its practical examples of how to improve the management of their schools. The textbook which consists of five chapters introduces the characteristics of successful schools, methods of educational development, how to manage human resources, as well as suggestions on how to improve the professional background of the school staff. Analysts, psychologists and acting school directors worked in collaboration on the first Georgian language textbook. Gia Murgulia, Director of public school #24 emphasized that the academic schedule, relevant environment and administration activities are the three main preconditions for the successful development of the schools’ infrastructure. “Georgian schools need to improve their management system while this new textbook would be a step forward to achieving success in this direction,” Murgulia stated. Georgian-Armenian Summer camp in Bolnisi

Care International in the Caucasus organized united Georgian and Armenian youths under the slogan Together for Better Future in Bolnisi, Kvemo Kartli region. Missing alpinist found dead

A missing alpinist was found dead by rescuers and border guards after a three-day search on Thursday. 30 year-old Giorgi Kristesiashvili became lost after he decided to get down from the mountain Gora alone. The rescue operation has been underway during the past two days, but the corpse of the sportsman was found yesterday. (Rustavi 2)



Minimal pension-GEL 100 from September

The minimum pension is to be increased to GEL 100 from September, as the Ministry of Health stated on August 25, the increase will assist every pensioner.

“There was a difference in this field between Georgian towns and regions. However from September the situation will be changed and it will be equal for all Georgian pensioners, “Sopio Gvalia, from the Ministry, stated.

The statements regarding increase of the pensions have been made by the President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili and Prime Minister, Nika Gilauri, earlier, they also stated that the authorities remember their promise on increasing the pensions to USD 100,. “We will fulfil the promise, as we have fulfilled all our promises, “Gilauri, said.
