Georgia-Bulgaria Intergovernmental Commission Signs Protocol

Georgia and the Republic of Bulgaria held the 4th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation in Sofia on December 5. The sides ended the two-day meeting with the signing of a protocol resulting from the meeting.

Georgian and Bulgarian delegations were headed by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vera Kobalia and Ivaylo Moskovski – the Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communication of the Republic of Bulgaria.

At the session of the commission the sides discussed issues of deepening bilateral relations. Particular attention was paid to the importance of the development of cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, energy, agriculture, tourism, transport, communications and forestry.

Economy Minister Kobalia and her counterpart Traicho Traikov held a roundtable with Bulgarian business circles followed by the presentation of investment opportunities in Georgia delivered by the Director of the National Investment Agency of Georgia Keti Bochorishvili.

Yet, the sides emphasized the importance of EU-Georgia cooperation and confirmed their adherence to the aims and principles of the Eastern Partnership. The Bulgarian side expressed readiness to facilitate Georgia in signing the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with the European Union.
