Georgian Language House opened in Gardabani

The Education Minister, Dimitri Shashkini, and Governor of Kvemo Kartli, David Kirkitadze, opened a Georgian Language House in Gardabani, at which ethnic minorities will pursue an education in the Georgian language. Any interested person, irrespective of their age, can learn the state language at the newly opened institution.

School principals, teachers, public officials, and university entrants will study the Georgian language with newly developed textbooks. According to the decision of the minister, all teachers who teach the school subjects bilingually will receive 200 GEL in addition to their monthly salary.

Supporting integration of national minorities through education is one of the priorities of Georgia's education policy. For this purpose, the Ministry is implementing different projects and programs; one of them is the program “Georgian Language for Future Success,” which envisages strengthening the learning of the Georgia language among ethnic minority schoolchildren. Georgian Language Houses have also started functioning in other regions: four houses have been opened in Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli regions; such educational centers will also start operating in all other regions populated by national minorities.

Georgian language houses have been supplied with relevant inventories, programs have been tailored to the needs of the trainees, and the teachers have been adequately trained.

The Z. Zhvania School of Public Administration coordinates the activities of Georgian Language Houses. The school delivers special educational language programs for minorities that work as public servants in the regions of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli.

The attendees of the courses at Georgian Language houses will have the opportunity to take up public administration programs and Georgian language courses offered by the Z. Zhvania School.
