Supplies of Russian natural gas to Armenia increased in 2011, reaching 1.6 billion cubic meters. This exceeds the amount transferred in 2010, 1.4 billion cubic meters. Approximately 550 million cubic meters is used by private citizens, with the remainder consumed by industry. Armros Gazprom, a subsidiary of Russia's Gazprom, holds a monopoly on natural gas in Armenia. The Armenian government has a 20% share of the company, with the rest under the control of the Russian parent company. The pipeline that supplies Armenia with Russian gas runs through Georgia.
