Armenia is pinning its transportation hopes on the construction of a North-South transport corridor connecting the country’s southern neighbour Iran with its northern neighbour Georgia.

Recently, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan remarked on the project, saying that it would make Armenia a significant link between the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea. Armenia hopes this will help them compete with – and block off to trade – Azerbaijan and Turkey.
