The rehabilitation of the Bakhmaro resort is being implemented within the framework of the new four-year action plan– “More benefits to the people." The most important priorities of this action plan are improvement of Georgia’s tourism potential, rural development and employment. Yesterday, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Ramaz Nikolaishvili and the State Minister of Employment, Paata Trapaidze, visited the ongoing work on the resort. Bakhmaro is located in the Chokhatauri municipality, 2,050 meters above sea-level and is one of the best resorts in terms of medical tourism.

Various infrastructural facilities, hotels, an outdoor cinema, amphitheatre, sports field, pharmacies and supermarkets are being built in Bakhmaro. The arrangement of access to its facilities and the children's recreation area are being implemented. Also, the construction work is being implemented on the access road to Bakhmaro, on the water supply system, outdoor lighting, as well as other projects. For the development of the skiing industry, the construction of ski tracks in Bakhmaro is planned. It should be noted that Bakhmaro is a unique resort which can host visitors throughout the year. In the ongoing work in Bakhmaro, several hundred people were employed from the Guria region and their numbers will be increased during the rehabilitation process. Population living in the villages adjacent to the resort will be able to realize rural agricultural products and have a stable source of income. (MRDI)
