Georgia prepares for grape vintage 2013

As usual, the grape vintage will start in Georgia at the end of August from Dedoplistskaro village in Kakheti. The forecast for the vintage is optimistic. The target amount of grapes is 150,000 tons. The minimal price for a kilogram of grapes will be 1 GEL. The Minister of Agriculture, Shalva Pipia, is optimistic about the upcoming grape vintage. The government will allot 25 million GEL for wine producer companies this year.

Due to return of the Georgian wines to the Russian market, Georgia’s export of wines has increased by 43%. The state is taking the relevant steps to assist the farmers and wine producers to increase and improve their production.
