Agricultural problems in Georgia

The Georgian agricultural sector is facing serious problems. More then 50% of the Georgian population is involved in agricultural life, though it produces only 9% of the GDP.

The efficiency of farmer’s activities is low in the country. Analysts suggest that the solution would be to unite the efforts of farmers to create bigger cooperatives.

It is difficult to achieve some viable results when each farmer has a limited plot of land. It should be mentioned that since 2007 the share of agricultural activities in the country’s GDP is less than 10%.
