“We have to improve our standards; committee working standards. Committees will be able to work in the old parliament building in Tbilisi from September. Weekly work should be done in the legislative body. We should work as partners”, Davit Usupashvili said.

Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Gharibashvili, attended the presentation of a new resort zone in the borough of Chakvi and defined this zone as one of the most substantial investments by Austria in the region of Adjara.

“We are immensely proud of the fact that the Austrian investors chose Georgia’s resort for laying the foundation for one of the most perspective aparthotels. This means that Georgia is a reliable partner, which can carry out the most serious projects successfully,” stated Mr. Gharibashvili.

In his words, the system of aparthotels can contribute to the development of tourism; as per the PM a number of countries across the world have already advanced in this sphere through this system.

"It is very important for our government to make religious tolerance exemplary"

Georgia’s Prime Minister congratulated the Muslims living in Georgia on the end of the fasting month of Ramadan and the beginning of Ramadan-Bayram.

"The holy month of Ramadan is over. I know how much important this holy month is for each Muslim. We have a different religion and just this difference is our country's wealth. Georgia’s existence is unthinkable without it. Our lives are intertwined with each other, because we have a common motherland. Muslims living in Georgia are not only an integral part of our state, but also you are a bridge to the Islamic world, which is of particular importance in the era of globalization. I want to tell you that it is very important for our government to be a religious tolerance exemplary. Our state policy regarding religious matters serves the recognition of a religious tolerance and freedom, as a fundamental value, in the society and respect towards this,"- Gharibashvili said.

New Air Traffic Control Centre to be Constructed

On July 23, a new center of air traffic control construction of Georgian Air Navigation’s “Sakaeronavigatsia” LTD was laid the foundation. Participants in the burial of a symbolic capsule to mark the start of construction included Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Davit Narmania, Tbilisi Mayor, Guram Jalaghonia, Director of Civil Aviation Agency, Gocha Mezvrishvili, General Director of Georgian Air Navigation, Guliko Zumbadze, MP, elected by majority from Samgori.

“Dagi”, a Georgian Company that has won the tender will built the new center for air traffic control in two years time and employ about 200 people. The author of the project is “Lebo” ltd. 7 million Georgian Lari will be spent for the construction of the centre.

“The development of air traffic control system is very important to reduce the air traffic accidents. A modern air supervisor uses number of technologies to ensure safe and consistent flights. Thus, Georgian Air Navigation’s new centre of air traffic control will be equipped with modern technologies and systems of highest standards. It will ensure safe flights and high quality service in Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi airports, as well as in the airspace under the control of Georgia” - Giorgi Kvirikashvili said.

Georgia is a member of Eurocontrol, European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation since 2014, according to the Minister, the organization is developing the concept of centralized services of air traffic management to promote Single European Sky. The concept aims at providing so called additional services for air traffic management by implementing modern technologies that will reduce the additional costs for airliners. The project will give an opportunity to air-navigation service centers of Eurocontrol’s member states to offer their services in 40 Eurocontrol member states. “Georgian Air Navigation -“Sakaeronavigatsia” LTD with its professional staff and infrastructure should be ready for these challenges and provide the best service of highest standards for airlines. The new Air Traffic Control Center and the company’s equipment in general, will be an opportunity for the Georgian Air Navigation to implement this ambitious plan” - Giorgi Kvirikashvili said.

According to the Georgian Air Navigation “Sakaeronavigatsia” LTD, the new center’s function will include backup facility. In case of the system failure, air traffic controller supervisors will be able to use a backup system in a few seconds and continue operating without any obstacles.

International tender to purchase a new system for air traffic control will be announced in the autumn 2014. The estimated cost of the tender is about 9 million Euros. It will allow the Georgian Air Navigation to carry out its main activities, such as ensuring flight safety and introducing higher standards.
