Azerbaijan restricts car import from Georgia

Monday, August 4
"The law was adopted by the Azerbaijani side, there are no any other restrictions on the border".

Azerbaijan closed movement on Lagodekhi section of the Georgian-Azerbaijani border.

Oxu.Az reports with reference to Haqqin.Az that the statement came from Georgian Security Council Secretary Irina Imerlishvili, noting however, that it is not related to the incident after yesterday's soccer match between "Chihura" (Sachkhere) and "Neftchi" (Baku).

"According to the Border Department of the Interior Ministry, the border is closed only for those cars that do not comply with the legislation of Azerbaijan. The law was adopted by the Azerbaijani side, there are no any other restrictions on the border. This law was adopted long ago, and it was announced that the restrictions come into force on August 1" said Imerlishvili.

It has to be noted that Azerbaijan has adopted a law that restricts the entry of American and European vehicles manufactured before 2005, and Japanese manufactured before 2011.
