Large volume of tar leaked in Georgian port of Poti

Thursday, February 19
Up to 10 metric tons of pyrolysis tar leaked in the Georgian port of Poti, the Georgian Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection said Feb. 18.

The leakage occurred when loading to the TANA ship, sailing under the flag of Malta.

Fetid odor causing weakness and dizziness required medical assistance to be rendered to dozens of people. Their lives are out of danger.

The ministry said that the chemical products are still liquidated.

The port administration, owned by APM Terminals company (part of the Danish transport group AP Moller-Maersk) has not yet made an official statement regarding the incident. (Trend.az)
