Average monthly salary calculated in Georgia for 2016

Georgia’s National Statistics Office claims that the average monthly salary in Georgia was 940 GEL in 2016.

The financial intermediation (1,834.9 GEL), public administration (1,326.8 GEL) and construction (1,283.3 GEL) were named as top three highest paid occupations.

Other sectors have shown the following figures:
Transport and communication – 1,201.5 GEL.
Mining and quarrying – 1,143 GEL.
Real estate, renting, and business activities – 1,063.3 GEL.
Production and distribution of electricity, gas, and water – 1,180 GEL.
Fishing – 654 GEL.
Health and social work – 914.4 GEL.
Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and personal, household goods – 790.3 GEL.
Manufacturing – 775.4 GEL.
Hotels and restaurants – 625.6 GEL.
Agriculture, hunting, and forestry – 575.3 GEL.
Education – 537 GEL.
Other community, social, and personal service activities – 804.7 GEL.

Figures show that men earn almost 386 GEL more than women each month.

The 2015 data of the same agency reads that about 1.8 million people were employed in Georgia and most of them were self-employed.
