Zurabishvili: This election is a fight not only between competitors

This election is a fight not only between competitors but it is a decisive fight for stability and peace, the ruling-party-supported presidential candidate Salome Zurabishvili said at the meeting with the electorate in Tetritskaro region of western Georgia.

She says that much is to be done for the country’s advancement.

"A lot has been done in recent years; today Georgia is a stable country, but there are still much to be done to achieve that our country strengthens its position in the Caucasus, Europe and the world.

“ We should not believe that we will not be able to do this since Georgia is a small country and a lot of our citizens have gone abroad,” Zurabishvili said.



Employee of Chinese company in Georgia detained

Two individuals have been detained by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the charge of beating a journalist and a cameraman of Rustavi 2 TV on Wednesday when the TV staff was trying to film the company activities.

Both individuals were detained for hindering the journalists’ professional activities and harassing them.

"The investigation found that the defendants verbally and physically assaulted and illegally hindered the activities of Rustavi 2 TV crew when they were performing their professional duties,” the ministry reported.

Regarding the incident, law enforcers detained the acting head and a translator of the Kvishkheti section of the China Railway 23rd Bureau. (By Messenger Staff)
