Check in Georgia to change its format

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Giorgi Kobulia stated that the money allocated for Check In Georgia program could have been spent and used in a more effective way for the state. According to him, the program format will change in 2019.

However, he noted that the Black Sea Arena will still remain in use for the project.

“Check In Georgia program will no longer be presented with the same format as before. We have made a radical review of this program. One of the things that I can tell you is that we decided to use the Black Sea Arena more intensively. Black Sea Arena is an asset in which a very large amount is invested. We believe that the funds spent on this program could have been used more efficiently in other areas,” he said.

Construction of Black Sea Arena started in 2008-2009 with the initiative of “Cartu” and more than 200 million GEL was allocated to the project. The facility was fitted with state-of-the-art technology. The auditorium has a capacity of 10000 seats in circular grandstands. The venue was gifted to the State by the Foundation.

Tbilisi City Hall to create free parking spaces with chargers for electric cars

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze made a statement on the allocation of parking spaces with free charging spots for electric vehicles in the city. He made this statement after the meeting with the representatives of the banking sector.

He also noted that the banks are ready to replace their own auto parks with hybrid and electric cars.

"Recently, we had a presentation with the prime minister regarding the “Green Policy ". The projects implemented in the country and especially in the capital, contribute to the improvement of ecological condition. The City Hall is going to implement a number of projects in order to improve public transport, rehabilitate green spaces, etc.

These will give us an opportunity to solve ecological problems. It is very important that the banks provide maximum support. Tbilisi City Hall will create free parking spaces throughout the city, with free chargers for the owners of electric vehicles. All this will enable us to gradually switch to electric machines and solve ecological problems,” Kaladze said. (By Mariam Chanishvili)
