Exhibition ‘Second Order’ at Window Project Gallery

The show assembles three different areas of works of a Georgian artist - Vakhtang Kokiashvili: mythos, religion and ethnographic pop.

The exhibition offers a showcase of different stages of the artist’s development where mythological forms are transformed into the effects of production and design.

The exhibition, which will take place until February 23, is curated by Nina Akhvlediani.

The exhibition is officially supported by TBC Status.

Vakhtang Kokiashvili was born in 1930. He graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 1956.

In 1962-1969 and 1973-1979 served as the chief artist of the Artists’ Fund of Georgia.

Kokiashvili was awarded the title of the Honored Artist of Georgia. He also chaired the Monumental Division of the Artists’ Union of Georgia.

His works have been exhibited in different cities, such as Warsaw (Poland, 1959), Tripoli (Libya, 1965), Dresden (Germany, 1969), Sofia (Bulgaria, 1975), Kecskemét (Hungary, 1981 and 1989) and Paris (France, 1996).

Kokiashvili is best known for creating following works: stained glass windows in the interior of the former Hotel Iveria (Tbilisi), at the lower station of the Tbilisi Funicular, at the Tbilisi International Airport, at the Institute of Physiology (Tbilisi); painting and stained glass window at the Hotel Metekhi (Tbilisi).

Lado Lomitashvili worked on exhibition display and design of the show. He works in the fields of drawing, photography, artist’s books, sculpture and installation.

Window Project presents frequent exhibitions of Georgian contemporary artists and studio works as well as international artists and industrial designers.
