Tbilisi is hosting the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations Congress on 20-25 January.

More than 100 guests from 60 countries are attending the five-day congress.

Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze attended the first day of the event.

“Today, there are people here who are creating the world of tourism. As the mayor of the city, I am glad that this meeting is being held in the Georgian capital… some participants will be introduced to our small but diverse country for the first time during the event,” he said.

The event helps promote the Georgian tourism sector and develop tourism guides in the country.

Tourism in Georgia is thriving in large part to its diversity of landscapes, culture, and hospitality to visitors.

The assortment of holiday opportunities and recreational activities in any region of Georgia makes it easy for every tourist to find their own unique encounter. From sun and sea to alpine skiing or just roaming free, Georgian tourism infrastructure affords access to both urban and rural destinations to accommodate tourists.

Georgia has historically been a hotspot for the influx of travelers as facilitated by the Silk Road.

Today, tourism in Georgia is a reflection of the many cultures that passed through. The modern Georgian tourism experience is defined by its seemingly limitless scope of heritage, adventure, nature, gastronomy and ecotourism options.

The World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) is a not for profit association registered under Austrian law following the second convention held in Vienna in 1987. With members from 80 countries, the WFTGA represents well over 150,000 individual Tourist Guides.

WFTGA has established an international network of professional tourist guides. WFTGA leads the global forum for the tourist guides around the world.
