Syrian Delegation to visit Georgia’s occupied region

Official delegation of Syrian lawmakers will visit Georgia’s occupied Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia in April 2019.

Petre Gassiev, de-facto chairman of Parliament of Tskhinvali region made the relevant statement.

"The Syrian Arab Republic has received our invitation with great pleasure and they will visit the Republic of South Ossetia in April of this year. This will be the first visit of the official delegation from Syria and within the frameworks of the visit an agreement on cooperation between the South Ossetian and Syrian parliaments will be signed, "- said Gassiev.

Syria recognized Georgia’s breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent countries on May 29, a step which was denounced by the wider international community, except Russia, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Nauru.
