As for students from other countries, 8,439 students arrived from Azerbaijan in 2015-18, 2299 – from Iraq, 1422 - from Turkey, 1895 – from Nigeria, 1183 – from Russia, 742 - from Iran - and 433 - from Syria.

The number of students from the United States and European countries is low.

The Georgian government announced the plans about the education system reform last year, which will be implemented by the Education Ministry of Georgia.

The reform includes the provision of new learning methods in Georgian public schools, particular support to pre-school and vocational education, changes in common national exams for higher education, modern infrastructure in education institutions and increased salaries for teachers.

The new education strategy also aims to promote the country to receive more international students.
