Endangered starry sturgeon found in Rioni river

The students of Ilia State University found endangered tiny starry sturgeon in Rioni river. Only 3 populations of the fish are left on the continent and one of the species inhabits in the Rioni river. In 2018, FFI started a new project near the river to protect this very rare species.

Before engaging in the project, the students of Ilia State University underwent special training in Austria and Romania with the help of the Swedish Postcode Foundation. Today, equipped with the necessary knowledge, students are able to work in their homeland.

The students are very active and important part of the organization Fauna and Flora International (FFI). The main goal of the organization is to protect sturgeons, which once were very common in the rivers around Europe, but as of today, because of the illegal fishery, there are almost none left.



Increased numbers of Internet Fraud

The National Bank warns people that the number of internet frauds has increased significantly. As the representatives said, people should avoid providing their private information to any kind of untrustworthy websites.

This kind of fraud is called phishing. Commonly, these websites use the design of official websites, and the difference between them is very hard to notice. Some of them look like Mobile Banks, by providing your username and password, they can easily access your personal data and use it for their benefit.



New technologies from China

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, it was announced that China will provide new technologies for Georgia to fight with invasive bugs.

The document was signed by the Minister of Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili and the Ambassador of China to Georgia, HE JI Yanchi.

“The Government of China decided to help Georgia to fight with the brown marmorated stink bug. We hope that this new technology will be helpful for the country to overcome this huge challenge.” – said the Ambassador of China.
