Levan Kobiashvili becomes the Chairman of UEFA Football Committee

As reported by the Georgian Football Federation, Levan Kobiashvili, the President of the Georgian Football Federation, was appointed as a chairman of the UEFA Football Committee. This marks the first time for a Georgian to take over the post at the UEFA Committee.

Borislav Mikhailov, the President of the Football Federation of Bulgaria, will be deputy chairman of the committee.

The Union of European Football Associations is the administrative body for association football, futsal and beach soccer in Europe, although several member states are primarily or entirely located in Asia. It is one of six continental confederations of world football's governing body FIFA.



Turnava met with the Ambassador of EU to Georgia

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava met with the EU Ambassador to Georgia, H.E. Carl Hartzell.

During the meeting, they talked about the importance of the bilateral relationship between the European Union and Georgia.

The meeting focused on the implementation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement (DCFTA) between the EU and Georgia and local business support programs aimed at enhancing Georgia's export to the EU.

The sides also talked about vocational training programs, which are supported by the European Union. It was noted that such programs create a possibility of reducing unemployment in Georgia.



Shalva Tadumadze: Works on extradition are underway

When asked if the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia plans to send another motion to Ukraine demanding Georgia’s ex-president, Saakashvili’s extradition, the Prosecutor General of Georgia, Shalva Tamunadze said that the work on extradition of “all perpetrators are underway.”

“The works on extradition of all perpetrators continue and everyone, who stands before the justice, will be held accountable,” said Tadumadze.

After getting back Ukrainian citizenship, Saakashvili arrived in Kyiv on May 29.



Ministry of Finance of Georgia treasury note auction results

On May 28, 2019, GEL 50 000 000 5-year Ministry of Finance Treasury Notes were sold at the Auction held at NBG.

Two commercial banks participated in the auction. The total demand amounted to GEL 105 000 000. Minimum yield was 6.990%, maximum yield was 7.100%, and the weighted average yield was 7.036%.

The coupon rate was 7.000%. Coupons will be paid semiannually.
