Kutaisi to host 2021 Annual Advisory Forum

Kutaisi was announced as the host city for the Annual Advisory Forum 2021 at the event Cultural-routes-Georgia, Europe, held in National Museum of Tbilisi. The President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, as well as the other government officials, attended the meeting.

The certification of two new Georgian cultural routes: German Settlements and Following Alexandre Dumas was announced at the meeting by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia. Deputy Minister, Levan Kharatishvili also presented a new Android mobile application (Cultural Routes), available for free in the Google apps store.



Speaker and EU ambassador discuss reforming of Election Code

The Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, met with the Ambassador of EU, H.E. Carl Hartzell to discuss the reforming of the Election Code.

The sides emphasized the importance of the involvement of the EU and other international partners in the course of the reforming process. Mr. Hartzell has confirmed that the EU will take an active part in reforming the electoral legislation and provide the Georgian side with expert support.

The discussion also touched upon the 4th wave of the judicial reform. They emphasized that as a result of the successful work process and broad consensus, the bill was designed to improve the independence and efficiency of the Court.

The speaker expressed his gratitude towards Mr. Hartzell and representatives of the EU for providing support in the 4th wave implementation process. The parties also emphasized the importance of wide engagement in reforming of the election law as well.



Real height of Mkinvartsveri confirmed to be 5054 meters

Within the scope of the pilot project, the real height of the mountain Mkinvartsveri was determined. For six days, the expedition members explored one of the most famous mountain structures using modern tools and equipment.

As it turned out, the absolute height of the Mkinvartsveri is 5054 meters. This marks the first case of measuring mountain altitude in the history of independent Georgia.

Until today, there were several data on the Mkinvartsveri’s height, but all of them were adopted in the Soviet Union with different techniques.
