No funds on tourism marketing campaign for Georgia in Russia

Head of the National Tourism Administration Mariam Kvrivishvili made a statement regarding the marketing campaign while discussing the 2013-2019 campaign finances.

According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, in 2013-2019, the marketing campaign on the Russian market amounted to 13 million GEL.

“We would like to emphasize that in 2019, the National Tourism Administration has not spent any funds on the Russian market. In 2013-2019, the National Tourism Administration spent more than 70,707,893 GEL on the international market to establish the country’s correct position and attract tourists. 13 million GEL has been spent on the Russian Market, which is 18.6% of the total expenditure,” said Mariam Kvrivishvili.

Since the beginning of the current year, the marketing expenditures have been planned in the EU and other countries.

“Georgia is a European country, with free people and European values, history and safe environment - this is the position of the National Tourism Administration for any marketing activity,” she noted.

Georgia-Azerbaijani border demarcation commission to resume work

Georgia-Azerbaijani border demarcation will resume work in the next few weeks. Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze made a statement about the issue at the briefing held before the government session.

The Prime Minister called on everyone to allow the commission and relevant agencies to work.

“I want to underline that the relevant agencies are in everyday contact with their colleagues in Azerbaijan. 2 days ago, a sad incident occurred. This is a delicate question, very sensitive to each of us and I want to ask everyone to give the commission a chance to continue functioning in normal mode,” said Mamuka Bakhtadze.

It is noteworthy that on July 14, 2019, an unfortunate incident occurred on the conditional border of Georgia and Azerbaijan, in the territory surrounding the Davit Gareja Monastery Complex. The confrontation happened between local citizens and Azerbaijani border guards.
