"Safeguarding Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis"

9th regional training for South Caucasus Museums "Safeguarding Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis" is taking place in Tbilisi from July 17 until July 20.

The training is led by Corine Wegener, chair of ICOM/DRMC, director of Smithsonian Cultural Rescue Initiative.

The regional training kicked off with the seminar for participants on the topic "Safeguarding Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis - Georgian and International practice and experience."

The events featured presentations by representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Unit for the protection of National Treasury (Ministry of Internal affairs of Georgia), ICOM Georgia, Blue Shield, National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia, Georgian National Museum, ICOM DRMC.

On July 19, at 19.00, a public lecture will be held in the auditorium of the Georgian National Museum. After the lecture, a panel discussion will be held where representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, MIA and Defense Ministries, as well as Emergency Situations Service, will be present.

ICOM Georgia organizes the project in cooperation with ICOM Disaster Risk Management Committee. The project is supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia, US Embassy Tbilisi, Georgia.
