Irakli Kobakhidze talks about President's impeachment

“Impeachment can be discussed only if there are signs for it. As of now, there aren't any,” "Georgian Dream" member Irakli Kobakhidze told reporters when answering a question whether President Salome Zourabichvili's impeachment would be discussed.

Kobakhidze said that he has no further information about the questioning about pardoning starting up again at the prosecutor’s office.

“As for impeachment, the issue of impeachment can only be raised theoretically if a crime is committed or the constitution is violated. So far, we have no signs of this, if there are any signs, it is only theoretically possible to discuss impeachment. There are no signs of this today, "said Kobakhidze.

He also spoke about the practice of pardoning.

"As for the practice of pardon in general, we have been criticizing the previous presidents before. That practice was wrong and to a large extent. Precisely this practice caused the flaws that were made during the current president’s ruling,” said Kobakhidze.

Ministry of Education started granting state awards to retired teachers

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia Mikheil Batiashvili hosted the award-winning retired teachers of Tbilisi, Rustavi and Mtskheta at the Ministry.

At the meeting, the teachers noted that the state had never taken such a dignified step in their direction and this recognition was unexpected and important to them. According to them, this precedent is an important impetus for current and future teachers who embark on this difficult profession.

“Your contribution to the upbringing of generations is immense. Reform begins with the teacher and the teacher must have appropriate conditions. The teacher is the future of the country. You have worked hard and made an incredible effort in this endeavor and thank you for your hard work on behalf of the Ministry, the children and the parents. I want to show the greatest respect to you. The teacher is the main person in the country, ” said Batiashvili.

At the first stage, more than six thousand teachers expressed their desire to receive awards from the state. They have already received a two-year total salary as a reward. Teachers of retirement age practitioners will have the opportunity to express their rewards by the end of the year.

As part of the reform, teachers who have raised their status will receive increased salaries in October.
