6th Brazilian Film Festival in Tbilisi

Tbilisi Brazilian Film Festival returns to the public with its 6th edition. This year, the festival will comprise seven nights, with six long feature films, and one evening dedicated to recent short Brazilian animation films.

This year, the organizers have decided to choose a venue at the House of Cinema next to Rustaveli metro station (2 Dzmebi Kakabadzeebi St).

The festival has been able to display in Georgia, since 2012, more than 40 top-quality Brazilian films, mostly, recent and previously locally unscreened productions, and has been growing in size and attendance since its beginning.

An evening dedicated to Brazilian short animation films will take place on October 28, featuring the following animations: "Way of Giants", directed by Alois Di Leo (2016) "Menina da Chuva" ("Rain Girl"), directed by Rosaria (2010) "Daydreamer", directed by Quia Rodrigues (2012) "Tarik's Puzzle", directed by Maria Leite (2015) "Power House", directed by Maria Leite and Daniel Herthel (2007) "Linear," directed by Amir Admoni (2012).

Nise: The Heart of Madness is a 2015 Brazilian docudrama directed by Roberto Berliner. Starring Gloria Pires, the film is based on the life of psychiatrist Nise da Silveira, a pioneer of occupational therapy in Brazil. The film won Best Film in the Tokyo International Film Festival and as Best Film in the Rio Film Festival Audience Award.

Inspired by a true story, Bingo: The King of the Mornings is a film about the man behind the mask. The film won Best Film in the Grand Prize of Brazilian Cinema and was the Brazilian entry for the 2018 Academy Awards.

Vazante is a 2017 film directed by Daniela Thomas. The story takes place in Brazil, 1821. A rich cattle herder finds out that his wife dies in labor. Forced to live in the property with numerous African slaves, he marries his wife's niece. But he returns to droving, leaving his wife behind alone with the slaves.

Attendance at the festival is free of charge. Films will be presented in the original language (Portuguese) with English subtitles, and tickets will be awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis, starting 30 minutes before each session.
