Georgian National Museums presents the exhibition "How to Catch up with a Dead Hare" by Georgian contemporary artist Iliko Zautashvili, in collaboration with Enrique Munoz Garcia (Switzerland/Chile) and Pang Hyosung (Korea).

The exhibition opening will take place on November 21 at Tbilisi History Museum (Karvasla) and will last until January 19.

"How to Catch up with a Dead Hare" is a motivation for constant search, which is the artist’s tribute to Western contemporary art.

Most of the works presented at the exhibition were created in 2019 and are showcasing the artist's moods, as well as the peculiarities of his thinking and existential space.

According to the artist, art is a means to get in touch with reality, leaving little attention to the fleeting trends in contemporary art and trying to address the eternal, existential themes in his work.

“The art I'm looking for reveals itself amid contradictory events and responds to global themes. Independence and freedom are the conditions upon which the relationship between the individual and society must be built. Art is a way to get in touch with reality and discover new ideas. My goal is to reveal new meanings which disclose the hidden and paradoxical context of life,” says Iliko Zautashvili.

The exhibition is curated by Magda Guruli.

Zautashvili has been the co-founder and Art Director of the National Art Center, Georgia, director of the Centre of Global Coordination of Culture and Art, curator of the Art Caucasus 2004 and 2005.

The exhibition is part of the project “Contemporary Art Gallery”. Contemporary Art Gallery is a project supported by the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia and is implemented by the National Museum. The project aims to support contemporary art development in the country of Georgia, to create a sustainable platform for exchange and cooperation internationally and within the country itself.
