Occupation line village Kere residents hold protest

Residents of village Kere, located near the occupation line hold protests in front of the police station building and demand promised mountain status from the government. Kere residents talk about the problems in the village, saying that they have been demanding the status for years without any response from the government.

People gathered at the entrance of Kere because police do not allow journalists to enter the village. They are demanding a meeting with government representatives. Neighboring villages already have a mountain status and they are concerned that Kere is a village abandoned by the government.

Other than status, they are demanding constructions of road infrastructure, water supply network and a kindergarten.

According to the law about Mountain Region Development, from January 1, 2016, residents of villages with the status of a mountain will use tax and social privileges.

Levan Izoria appointed as Georgian ambassador to Germany

Former head of the Intelligence Service Levan Izoria has been appointed Georgian ambassador to Germany.

“For me, it's a great challenge, an honor and a responsibility. Some took it as a punishment. I encourage them to choose terminology. It is also a kind of insult of the country," Izoria said.

Izoria was appointed head of the Georgian Intelligence Service on September 12. Before that, he held the post of Minister of Defense. Izoria was the deputy chief of the State Security Service and the deputy interior minister.

On January 23, Mtavari Channel released a video shot in 2014, showing how Police officer George Dvalishvili detained the brother of the then-Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Levan Izoria, Vakho Izoria. Soon after his arrest, Vakho Izoria was released from the police car.

Prosecutor's office launched an investigation based on Giorgi Dvalishvili's statement.
