President Salome Zourabishvili releases statement regarding increased cases of femicide in Georgia

The government’s active involvement, along with education, culture and society consolidation is crucial. Raising awareness in society is a must. State, society and religious organizations should all work together to prevent violence.”

The President of Georgia considers it advisable to hold a meeting with state, international and non-governmental organizations working on violence against women at the Orbelian Palace next week to discuss additional needs and possible initiatives related to this issue.

Two women have been killed in Georgia over the past week. In both cases, the accused was arrested.
