Hungarian Republic Day

Monday, October 25
You may have noticed that on the 23rd of October the famous TV tower of Tbilisi majestically overlooking this beautiful city was illuminated red, white and green. Red, white and green are the colours of the national flag of Hungary, the tricolour that was raised high by the freedom fighters on the streets of Budapest on 23rd of October, 1956. Red, white and green - a nation demanding to be free, independent and sovereign, values that are worth standing up for, to fight for and, for many, even to die for. Without their bravery and sacrifice, we would not be free, independent and sovereign today. It is our privilege and duty to remember, to pass on our story and to learn from history.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for looking up to the Red, White and Green flag of Hungary and commemorating with us the Revolution of 1956. Georgia and Hungary – friends, partners, allies.

Ambassador of Hungary
