One of the leaders of the opposition party Federalists, Tamar Chergoleishvili, announced that she has been summoned by police for questioning. She said she has been called in as a witness but has "nothing to say" and intends to respond only in court. The date and time of her hearing have not yet been set.

According to Chergoleishvili, the summons is likely related to the October 4 rally and to statements she made about former Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaia.

"Bidzina Ivanishvili's criminal police are summoning me for questioning," she wrote. "As a witness, I really have nothing to say. The witness's testimony cannot be based on public information or conclusions made within the framework of common sense. I will answer the questions in court - I do not know the time and date yet."

Chergoleishvili said she wanted the public to know her position, as she believes a "dirty campaign" has been launched against her. "The fake revolutionaries have unleashed the dirtiest campaign, as if I am inciting the arrest of Bacho Akhalaia," she said. "There is no case of overthrow or coup. There is a case of extremely irresponsible and shameless people. There is no basis for the accusation of a coup, for which dozens of people have been charged and deprived of their freedom."

Addressing the controversy within the United National Movement, Chergoleishvili said her earlier remarks were based on public information and statements made by party members. "Any intelligent person familiar with the case would have drawn the same conclusion from the publicly disseminated information - primarily from the statements of Levan Khabeishvili, Ani Nadareishvili and Tina Bokuchava, and the comments on these statements," she explained.

"As a politician, I consider it necessary to expose this total irresponsibility," she added. "It is vital for national interests to avoid such things in the future, so that we can actually, and not illusorily, remove Ivanishvili's regime from our country."

Earlier, during an interview on Formula TV, Chergoleishvili stated that "meetings were held at Bacho Akhalaia's house regarding October 4, and there was a confrontation within the National Movement about this. Moreover, there was communication with Saakashvili on this topic."
