The European Union has allocated Euro38 million for projects aimed at supporting families and local communities across Georgia, with new initiatives expected to begin early next year.
"This is part of our 'EU with You' approach and reflects our commitment to Georgia's European and democratic future," said Nicholas Cendrowicz, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Georgia, while discussing the funding package.
The projects will support farmers, rural residents and small and medium-sized businesses, with particular attention to farms and businesses managed by women. Funding will also go toward developing professional skills in towns and smaller cities, helping people adapt to changes in the labour market and creating new economic opportunities.
Support is also planned for people returning to Georgia who want to re-establish themselves in the country. Women and girls, including those who have experienced gender-based violence, will receive assistance aimed at creating new opportunities for them.
Other priorities include improving access to markets and food quality, developing rural economies, promoting safe and orderly migration, and strengthening climate adaptation and disaster preparedness. The package will also provide continued support to communities in Abkhazia.
The initiatives are intended to reach communities throughout the country, with opportunities under the new projects expected to become available from the beginning of next year.
