Inga Grigolia, the prominent journalist who left the shut down Imedi TV for independent producer TBC, premiered her new talk show Monday night on Imedi rival Rustavi 2. Did you watch? What did you think?
Wednesday, December 12
“I think it was alright, it’s good that she managed to get representatives from both political sides on her show. But I don’t think that airing her talk show on Rustavi 2 was particularly professional on her part.”
Salome, dentist, 27
“At the beginning, Inga looked very tense, but later on she got back into her old rhythm. The balance wasn’t perfect, though, and I preferred her old show on Imedi.”
Keti, journalist, 32
“I didn’t like the show. It was a typical Rustavi 2 talk show. I didn’t expect Grigolia to move to that network—it means she’s no longer a free journalist, and her questions aren’t honest.”
Lika, teacher, 47
“I hate Grigolia for leaving Imedi and going to Rustavi 2. Nothing changed on her show, but she’s lost people’s trust.”
Lana, housewife, 36
“I love Grigolia and her show. I don’t think moving to Rustavi 2 was a mistake at all: people haven’t seen both political sides together [on a TV show] since 2005, but she managed to do it. Good for you, Inga.”
Keti, journalist 26
“I think that Grigolia’s first show on Rustavi 2 was a success. I thought she would shy away from being as critical as she was on Imedi, but she hasn’t lost her old style. It’s important to have debates like this, especially now, before the elections.”
Shalva, lawyer, 31
“She’s here at the right time and at the right place. The campaigns are fine, but to get all the candidates together on TV is much better, and she’s trying to do that. I appreciate her motivation.”
Teona, student, 18
“I didn’t like the show, I didn’t like Grigolia and I didn’t like the guests. Grigolia seemed different than before, a little bit confused. And the guests were poorly prepared. People need to bring documentation, statistics and some confidence. I couldn’t see any of that on Monday’s show; they were just criticizing each other without offering any proof for their arguments.”
Lana, translator, 29
“I liked the show, I think that over time it will get better and Grigolia will be critical, like she was on Imedi. Right now, we need to see politicians debating so we can make an informed choice on January 5. Grigolia is a journalist who is helping accomplish that. Her past decisions don’t matter to me.”
