From January to October 2007, according to Statistics Department data quoted in the newspaper Rezonansi, Georgia’s total trade turnover reached USD 5.78 billion, up 37 percent over the previous year.
Exports totaled USD 1 billion, a 30 percent jump from 2006, with imports increasing nearly 40 percent over 2006 to account for the rest of the figure.
Georgia’s largest trade partner in 2007 was Turkey, with exports doubling from 2006 to reach USD 147.3 million.
