Azerbaijani political analyst Arif Yunusov noted a chilling in relations between Baku and Moscow in 2007.
Baku did not support Russian efforts to exert control over Georgia by manipulating its gas supply, Yunusov is quoted by the news agency Regnum as saying. Azerbaijan also drew Moscow’s ire by working to strengthen the Georgia-Ukraine-Azerbaijan-Moldova regional alliance, and signing an energy agreement with the EU that Russia opposed.
