With increased gas supply commitments in 2008, Azerbaijan’s state oil company, SOCAR, forecast the output of the Shah-Deniz natural gas field in Baku at eight billion cubic tons in 2008, the news agency Regnum reports. The company also said that output is expected to reach 20–22 billion cubic meters in 2020.
Shah-Deniz is Azerbaijan’s largest gas field. Georgia hopes to limit its reliance on Russian gas by increasing its supply from Baku.
