Azerbaijan generates 73–74 million kilowatt hours daily, according to vice president of energy company Azerenerji Marlen Askerov.
Azerbaijan is self-sufficient in electricity. In 2007 a total of 21.4 billion kilowatt-hours was produced in the country, down from 23.8 billion in 2006, the news agency Regnum reports.
Output decrease in 2007, Askerov says, because demand was lower—owing to the introduction of electricity meters in some parts of the country as well as the connection of some regions to a natural gas network.
